Old Town San Diego, California

Old Town San Diego-the birthplace of California.  Super accessible to public transportation and filled with history and beautiful architecture.  I loved walking around the park and through a few of the museums as well as the shops on the surrounding streets.

Whether or not you buy into ghost stories, the Whaley House Tour is really interesting.  The house, which has been amazingly maintained, is full of history of the family and the era.  Even better the tour is conducted by a woman in a hoop skirt.  Trolley tours and ghost tours of Old Town are also available.

There were plenty of restaurants to choose in Old Town.  I had the best taco salad at Miguel's Cocina (I know, living on the edge) and the margaritas were even better!
