Everyday Detox by Megan Gilmore

It's hard to think of detoxes without thinking of days of juice cleanses and salads. Megan Gilmore's approach, in Everyday Detox is more of a lifestyle change.  It's a long term approach to ridding your body of, as Megan calls the vague additives and chemical preservatives of processed foods.  There are so many of testimonials to the effects of a whole food diet in general as well as associated with this book.

Megan starts off covering the benefits of eating whole foods  and the basic principles of food-combining (with charts), pairing food to promote better digestion.  I actually have a friend who is currently reading a book that goes into crazy details of food-combining information, way more than anyone could follow right off the bat.  I love that Everyday Detox comes at it from a very realistic approach.  The book also includes tips for weekly meal planning and an easy menu to get you on a better tract.

I really love that Megan provides basic information and easy recipes to get you started on a better lifestyle.

She included all types of recipes in this book, from salads and smoothies, to comfort food and sweet treats.  I've made the Caramelized Onion & Red Bell Pepper Frittata and Cauliflower Flatbread Pizza, and used her recipe for Greek dressing.  Everything has been delicious and I love that the recipes don't involve anything you can't find at a local grocery store.  I'm looking forward to trying more recipes from Everyday Detox and Megan's blog, Detoxinista

All thoughts and opinions are my own.  I received this book from Blogging for Books in exchange for this review.
